How to overcome a defeat
If you look at the recent defeat as a serious mistake that cannot be fixed, you will end up with a depression. You will have problems sleeping, you cannot work, and you will be angry all the time. But you will be angry at yourself. There is no need for this. First of all, there is no mistake that cannot be fixed. For example, car manufacturers spend billions (not millions) dollars on a new car development. After some time, drivers notice some flaws. They don’t give up. They fix that mistake. The same situation is with you.
Trying to have a life with no defeat or mistakes is impossible. Both of them are part of our life. Nobody like being defeated, but you cannot change this. However, you can change what happens after that defeat. Sadness is something that you don’t need. Every time you lose or you end up hurt, sadness take over control. At that moment you forget that you are controlling your emotions. Sadness is just an emotion, nothing more. So, you can eliminate it.
The secret is to look on mistakes and defeats like on your education. The more you learn, the smarter person you will be. Also, you forget why you are defeated. It happened because you wanted a victory. This means that you wanted to take something, to conquer something. Because you must have courage in order to want these things, you are a brave person. Instead of thinking negatively, rise up and see your flaws and mistakes. Fix them and try again. The only true defeat is when you say ‘’I give up’’.
